Life in Hong Kong

Dear JONC.nl-readers,

Welcome to my first entry on JONC.nl. This is such an honor for me to be the first blogger on this new column after being invited by a Dutch Chinese friend of mine – Jessy. For all your curiosity why I am chosen and what makes this section so unique on JONC.nl, I'm going to reveal the reasons from time to time. So with my first entry here, I'm going to introduce myself, giving you a better view of where I live - Hong Kong and hopefully you will enjoy yourself during your visit here. A recent photo of me taken at the HK Zoological & Botanical Gardens

I am sure I ain't a stranger to some of you, who have already known me for a decade or heard of my name from your other Chinese friends. I was born in Hong Kong and have been living here for nearly 27 years, which you aren't surprised because some of you were born here as well, but happened to move to the Netherlands. However, did you know how much I wish I could be born in such a beautiful country like most of you are located at the moment?

As for the reasons why I am chosen and invited by Jessy to write this blog, she has been my personal blog's reader for a very long time, since the era when blogging wasn't popular yet.
I have always been an internet person, since you might be able to figure it out how addicted I could be when ICQ was just invented and that was where I started making friends through the internet. I created my own website without any training, I copied and pasted the HTML codes from other sites in the beginning and learned how to post the images and such... you name it.
And apart from that, I have visited the Netherlands for approximately 9 times since my first visit back in 1999 and met many friends along the way... now you may get the idea of why Jessy thought I could make some kind of connections through this channel and bring us all closer by this bridge from across the nations.

I am very glad to be given this opportunity to share my life and travel experiences with you lot here, this is going to be very special to me because I have always loved to write and hopefully my stuff would be able to get published somewhere in the public, so having this blog here on JONC.nl enables me to get closer to that stage, yet to appreciate a chance to meet you all here.
To celebrate the new born of this blog, I am going to give my first public announcement here. I'm just hired by the InterContinental Hotels Group which is the largest group in the Hospitality Industry and I hope I will have a fresh start in this 4-star hotel which is situated in Tsim Sha Tsui on Kowloon side from the 5th of May. Please allow me to take this opportunity to thank you all for supporting my first entry here and giving me this room to share my thoughts with my new friends.

I ensure you will learn more about the lifestyle in Hong Kong without paying a fortune to fly over here for now... but I am also sure that you wouldn't mind paying what is valuable after knowing the differences between Hong Kong and the Netherlands.

Till next entry…

With love,
Kamen xxx

Would you like to emigrate to Holland? My older niece from Kowloon came to Holland in the beginning of the nineties, stayed for about a year(which wasn't allowed by the government!) and she didn't like
    the life here.
