Dear JONC.nl-readers,

Goedemiddag!! Alles goed met jullie? Hoe is het weer in NL?
It's been raining constantly over here and I guess you might have heard of some bad news through the television and internet. However, we are having a sunny day today and I'm sitting behind the desktop, writing this entry after a tiring week at work again.

Non-stop operational work continues at work and 2 lectures during the week without a doubt. Speaking of convenience this time, I'd love to share my special addiction to these old-fashioned and inexpensive transports with you all here.

Since I work in Tsim Sha Tsui, the heart of city, MTR is always packed during peak hours, which I don't really enjoy being in the crowd, especially when I go to lecture on Hong Kong Island. I'd be very thankful when I have enough time to travel by Ferry, which only costs HK$1.70 for lower deck, HK$2.20 for upper deck and 7 minutes across the Victoria Harbour.

It was a bit rough the other day because of the bad weather, but I still enjoy the journey because of the view of our beautiful harbour, which tourists come for.
You can see the difference between MTR and Star Ferry during the peak hours now. How enjoyable and relaxing the passengers are on board. I even see some passengers travelling with their luggages, which I assume you are not allowed to do with MTR.

After swinging about on the ferry, I'd walk to Des Voeux Road Central for the double-decker tram, which only costs HK$2 for the whole journey on HK Island.
Serving from 1904, it is one of the earliest forms of public transport in Hong Kong. Trams in Hong Kong have not only been a form of transport for over 100 years, but also a major tourist attraction. I love to sit by the windows and look what’s happening around me every now and again. There are just so much happenings on the street and you would be emotional sometimes.

At the staircase, there's a sheet promoting other services like tram hiring for parties or promotional events. For more info, you can visit http://www.hktramways.com
I'd also love to have a party on an Open-balcony tram for once in my life-time, having a good time with my close friends and family as well as waving to the passer-by’s from the open top, cheering and sharing the happiness in the city. I think we are quite lack of this atmosphere in Hong Kong, comparing with the Dutch.

Or some time in the future, we will all be riding on a horse/pony, to feel its freedom and merge into the nature in order to save our environment for our next generation's sake.

Have a good start to the week, everyone!!
Met vriendelijke groet,
Kamen xx

P.S. Bedankt, BORNINHK1971, I have already contacted nedverhk.

    Nice blog!

Tsim Sha Tsui reminds me of the beautiful view on Victoria Bay HK Island. It's just breathtaking, especially in the evening. It's been one the highlight of every trip to Hongkong i've been to.

In HK, life is so demanding, you need time and space for yourself. On the other hand, in Holland we seek for excitement.

And did you follow the UEFA European Championships with Holland? I know there's a great interest in HK for the World Cup...
